Irish dancing provides a fantastic cardiovascular workout that will help you build fitness, increase your flexibility, and have fun while learning new steps.

Irish dancing classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will include tuition in both light and heavy shoes, at all class levels.

Advanced Beginner

For those who have done 3 - 6 months of Irish dancing classes, or for those with previous experience in other styles of dance. We do both light and heavy dancing in this class.

Lower Intermediate

For those who have done 6 - 12 months of Irish dancing classes, with some experience in light and heavy shoes (we do both in this class).

Upper Intermediate

For people who know the basic light dances (Reel, Jig, Slip Jig) and basic heavies (Heavy Jig, St. Patrick's Day).

Advanced

For people who have danced up to Méan Grad / Ard Grad (Prizewinner/Championship level) in competition, or have experience in performance/troupe work.

Please contact us if you are unsure of which class to register for.

Shoes

Irish dancing classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will include tuition in both light and heavy shoes, at all class levels.

Please note: We recommend that dancers have appropriate footwear.

Women's Light Shoes are also called Poms or Ghillies:

Men's Light Shoes are also called Reel Shoes:

Heavy Shoes for both men and women are the same; the only difference is sizing.

Irish dancing shoes can be purchased at Dance World (various locations) or Fays Dance Shoes (Upper Dorset St, Dublin 1).

It’s also a good idea to check your local charity shop, Facebook Marketplace, DoneDeal.ie, and Adverts.ie for second-hand shoes

Tap shoes may also be purchased as a lower-cost alternative to heavy shoes, while ballet shoes can be worn instead of light shoes.

Alternatively, dance trainers can be worn for both light and heavy shoe work:
